Tim Ferris and ADD.
So, over the past few days, I’ve read a book called “The 4-Hour Workweek”, by Tim Ferris. And while I don’t subscribe to everything he says, I got a ton out of it, the first of which I’ve been test-driving for a couple days now.
I have begun checking email only twice a day(at 12 noon and bedtime). I only check twitter at those times too(except for DM’s), and I only check Facebook once a day(usually in the morning-ish). I’ve stopped checking my blog except when I post, as well as other things. If you need to contact me for something time sensitive, give me a call on my cell. If not, an email will probably do just fine, and I’ll get back within a day or 2.
Basically, I am being intentional in limiting the things that I use to waste time.
So what’s happened?Well, My bedroom is actually clean. The painting that’s been sitting for weeks is once again in progress. I’ve written a couple poems and this blog post. I’ve worked on a website. I’ve spent more time with Jesus because I haven’t been so anxious and rushed. I colored the rest of my backpack, and I worked on some other personal art projects. And oh yeah, I read a book.(a pretty long one for me).
The fact is, I bet that I saved myself somewhere from 2-4 hours yesterday by being intentional. I could find things all day to research and read online, and convince myself that it’s for my good. And I’m happier because I’m accomplishing things.
So, if you want to actually get stuff done and be happy and spend more time with God, be intentional.
If you don’t want any of that, then don’t be intentional with how you spend your time. It’s that simple.
